5 Unique Wedding Accessories
You’ve heard the saying “Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Wearing wedding accessories is an excellent way to add character to your wedding and is a long standing tradition.
When you think of unique wedding accessories, what comes to mind? There are many different types of accessories you might use at your wedding: jewelry, veil, hair clips, tiaras, shoes, garters, evening bags, hats, parasol, gloves, and even your flowers.
Which ones you use will ultimately depend on the type of wedding you’re planning.
Parasol or Umbrella
A delicate lace wedding parasol or umbrella is a stunning wedding accessory that can be both functional and decorative. A white umbrella will make you feel like a southern belle no matter where your wedding is being held. Depending on the style you choose, it can also serve to keep rain and the sun away.
Wedding Gloves
Another stunning accessory, wedding gloves can add a touch of romance or sophistication to your wedding outfit. Your choices range from opera length to wrist length. Wedding gloves come in a variety of styles from lace tulle to silk, so you’ll be able to choose the perfect match for your gown.
Wedding Garter
A wedding garter was often the “something blue” that is worn to a wedding. However, there are many other colors available when choosing a wedding garter. There are even garters with added rhinestones, pearls, flowers and feathers for a unique look.
Hair Accessories
The type of hair accessories you wear will depend on if you wear a veil and the style of the veil you choose. Some hair accessories are designed to clip onto your veil. Others may interfere with the placement of your veil. You can choose a simple string of freshwater pearls or fresh flowers or a more elaborate crystal comb or barrette.
Body Jewelry
You may have already considered a necklace, earrings or bracelet to go with your wedding gown. But, what about body jewelry. If you have an off the shoulder dress, you may want to consider an arm cuff to be worn high on your arm. You can opt for a simple Victorian arm cuff or a more detailed crystal arm cuff.
Which type of unique wedding accessories do you like best? Don’t forget to create your wedding registry.

I recently saw some photos of a friend who got married who had a lace wedding parasol. It looked absolutely lovely! What a delicate touch!
It really is a great accent!
I haven’t looked much into body jewelry but I would be interested. I like the arm cuffs and am fortunate to have thin arms so I can wear them. I just don’t have that many occasions where I get really dressed up to wear them. I’ll have to find some casual ones first and warm up to the idea. I love the hair accessories too.
I’ve seen a few really gorgeous arm cuffs that were chains. Very elegant!
No visions of wedding bells for either of my daughters at this time. I’ll have to keep this in mind when that day comes, and hopefully they will get married in the summer when it’s warm! LOL
Some day, Janice!
I’ve always thought that fresh flowers in the hair are a really pretty look. That’s something that I wouldn’t mind doing for myself in the springtime.
I agree. I love them as well.
My son has a wedding coming up this summer. They are hoping to keep it low-key and inexpensive. I’ll share your ideas with my (future) daughter-in-law.
Thanks so much, Cynthia!
