So, this charm bracelet DIY is started with a chain bracelet that you could find at your local craft store. After that, you will make the dragon eggs from Polymer clay. Then you will use wire eye hooks and jump rings to attach to the dragon egg. And, finally, you will attach the hoop to the chain bracelet.

How to make a charm necklace

If you want to, you can turn this charm bracelet DIY into a necklace DIY by using a chain necklace and crafting more dragon eggs. You’d want to make sure that the dragon eggs were centered properly on the charm necklace so they fell to the center. Other than that, and needing more supplies, it should be pretty simple. Why dragon eggs?

So, if you’re wondering what the significance of dragon eggs is, let me explain. In the movie Game of Thrones, Daenerys is given three petrified dragon eggs as a wedding gift. In the movie, the dragon eggs are black, green and gold. So, if you want to, you can certainly use those colors for your dragon eggs.

Or, keep them the same colors used in this charm bracelet DIY. Anyway, in the movie, the eggs were gorgeous and priceless but completely useless. But, using old magic, the dragon eggs hatched and dragons filled the skies again.

Directions for the charms & charm bracelet DIY

  • Work on one egg at a time (meaning one color of clay).
  • Work the clay into a ball, then narrow and lengthen one end to make a general egg shape.
  • Make 30+ teeny-tiny balls of the same color clay. Set aside.
  • Cut an eye pin to fit the size of your egg.
  • Insert eye pin into the top of the egg.
  • Flatten each of the teeny-tiny balls and place on the egg, starting from the bottom and overlapping them by about half of the size of each smashed ball. This forms the scales, so don’t mush them down where they overlap.
  • Bake in the oven per the directions on your clay package. Allow it to cool completely.
  • Dry brush bottom 1/3 of each egg with a little bit of the black craft paint.
  • Dry brush entirety of each egg with the gold metallic paint. Allow the paint to dry fully.
  • Affix a jump ring to each eye pin.
  • Affix jump rings to links of the bracelet.
