I’m sharing a few back to school beauty essentials with you that I have tried and recommend.  After a summer filled with hanging out with friends, spending time at the beach, and sleeping late it is time to get serious about back to school beauty. Depending on your child’s age (or your age), your specific beauty needs may be simple or complex. Back to School Beauty Essentials You Need Right Now

Back to School Beauty Essentials

These suggestions for back to school beauty essentials are geared toward teens and young adults. Depending on your views, tween beauty essentials can be as simple as a facial wash and possibly a clear lip gloss, or you may feel that a few of these suggestions will work for your child.

Acne Wash

With puberty comes acne due to changing hormones and an increase in oil production. Depending on how severe your acne is, you may want to opt for a prescription product that your doctor recommends. We’ve had success with the Proactiv line of products in the past, but Christina Moss Naturals has one that is organic if you prefer.

Dry Shampoo

Busy school mornings mean that you may not always have time to wash your hair. Waking up early in the morning for class takes some getting used to after sleeping late the whole summer.  When you are running short on time, using a dry shampoo can help you get out the door on time. I really like the Drop Dead Gorgeous Dry Shampoo. It is 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free.

Lip Balm

Whether you choose to go clear, glossy or tinted, your lips will need protection and a little bit of shine. This is especially true if you’ll be out in the sun at all. Make sure that you look for a lip balm with SPF to protect your lips. Skip the petroleum-based lip balms and look for some with beeswax which is a more sustainable choice. I’m a huge fan of Burt’s Bees products and you can find them almost anywhere. Check out my post about the best eco friendly lip balm choices.

Cosmetic Bag

Staying organized is a habit you should adopt early. Toss a cosmetic bag in your backpack or your bag and you’ll always have what you need with you. It can hold your hair ties, beauty products, and travel-sized bottles of  your favorite hair products for showering after gym class.
