Removing oil and dirt from your pores is the first step in minimizing them. Your oil glands may be producing excess oil. Or, your pores may be clogged from a build up of makeup or dirt or even dead skin cells. In order for your pores to become smaller, you need to make sure that you are really removing impurities from your skin. Make sure that you cleanse your skin regularly.

When choosing makeup, look for cosmetics that are labeled noncomedogenic. Makeup that is labeled noncomedogenic means that it is specially formulated so as not to cause blocked pores. Never sleep with your makeup on.

Remember to always apply sunscreen when you go out in the sun. Too much sun can make your pores less supple which will lead them to become permanently larger than you’d like. Be sure to remove the sunscreen and cleanse your skin when you come home.

Really deep clean your pores a few times a week. Despite our best intentions, our pores may remain clogged even after cleansing them. It may in part be due to residue left behind by skin care products or even environmental pollution.

  1. I have been hearing a lot about charcoal masks lately but have yet to try one. I need to minimize my pores though, so this sounds perfect. Thanks!

  2. This looks great. I like that it heats up. I used to use Biore products all the time. Not sure why I haven’t lately.

  3. I have a reward to spend at Sally’s Beauty Supply for renewing my membership and will look for a charcoal mask. I keep seeing them and want to try them out. Masks seem easy to do. I didn’t know Biore had so many other products. Their Pore Unclogging Scrub looks good to me too.

Oh my horribly enlarged pores due to hormonal going into menapause with extra oily skin stage of life that I had no idea could happen!!  You are so right in needing to deeply clean out pores several times a week. I have used these mask and they are fairly quick to use. I always used them right before getting in the shower and washed it off in the shower. I have to deep clean my pores almost daily or the buildup gets out of control. I will be so glad to have this stage behind me.
