How to Use Essential Oils in Your Beauty Routine

Last Updated on September 8, 2020 by Ellen Christian

Do you know how to use essential oils in your beauty routine? Or have you only been using them in your diffuser? One of the first ways I started to use essential oils was in a diffuser. Just having the scent of my favorite essential oils in the air was enough to help me relax and unwind. As I started to learn more about essential oils, I began to create a few of my own beauty products and look for natural products that contained my favorite essential oils. Stress can negatively impact not only how you feel but how you look. Have you ever heard of frown lines? That’s just one of the ways that stress can hurt you. The more relaxed and peaceful we are, the less stress will play a part in your appearance.

Diffuse your favorite essential oils

Whether you choose to add your favorite essential oils to a terra cotta diffuser or your favorite ultrasonic diffuser, popular choices for stress include chamomile and lavender. I set my diffuser on my desk and have it randomly release the scent. That way, while I’m working, I get the full effects. This is the one that I have on my desk right now.

Moisturize your skin

Keeping your skin moist and hydrated goes a long way toward preventing the signs of aging. If only I knew how important this was when I was in my twenties. Don’t stop with just moisturizing your face and neck. Be sure to return the moisture to your arms, legs and decolletage. Valentina’s Naturals Hydrating Body & Massage Oil is a deeply moisturizing oil blend with sweet orange, lavender, and cedarwood essential oils.  It has 100% natural ingredients and is not tested on animals. You can use this as a massage oil, or add a few drops to the palm of your hand and smooth it across your skin as part of your beauty ritual. I love the fresh scent of this oil. It’s a great way to energize yourself first thing in the morning.

Nourish stressed or irritated skin

Because I have rosacea, my face is frequently stressed or irritated. It’s also very sensitive so I need to be aware of what I use on it. Certain essential oils can calm stressed or irritated skin. The PurErb Serenity Calming Essential Oil is a floral blend of soothing plant extracts that include Lavender, Bulgarian Rose, Helichrysum, Geranium, and German Chamomile. The scent is very relaxing so I’ve found this is the ideal oil to difuse use right before bed. Or try sprinkling a few drops in your bath!

If you’d like to start using essential oils in your beauty routine, these are three simple ways to get started. Experiment with different oils until you find the ones that you most enjoy.

One of my readers will win a bottle of Valentina’s Naturals Hydrating Body & Massage Oil so they can experience the benefits for themselves.

  1. I am a big fan of essential oils. I use them on a regular basis. I’d like to win because this is a new company to me and I always like to learn about new products and see how they work.

  2. I love Now products and use oils on my feet every night, which really helps keep them soft. I’d love to try some different massage oils for the rest of my body, especially my achy joints after a workout.

  3. I would like to win because I like to xperiment with different oils. I do have a collection of them that I use regularly.

  4. I love essential oils! The primary reason I would love to win is my husband’s back issues. I think that this massage oil would be very beneficial for him. Thank you for the chance!
