Teaching Boys to Scent Responsibly

Last Updated on June 2, 2022 by Ellen Christian

I still remember the day that my son received his first body spray. He got it for his twelfth birthday and couldn’t wait to use it. He came downstairs that afternoon wearing enough of it that I am sure the neighbors could smell him. We had to open all of the windows to air out the house and have him shower. It wasn’t that there was anything wrong with the spray he used, he just used way too much of it. My husband took him aside and had a discussion about the proper way to scent responsibly. We still struggle with it sometimes but for the most part, he understands that a little bit is all you need.

Since this is a Blog Takeover, what follows is my son’s take on scenting responsibly and what he and his friends thought of the Old Spice Re-fresh Body Sprays.

I received a very nice briefcase one afternoon from Old Spice, and couldn’t wait to open it. I opened it to find three Old Spice Re-fresh Body Sprays, a movie, a roll of duct tape, a book, and a hair product. I was very excited. My mom got me this so I could learn to put on the proper amount of spray without over doing it.

I brought it to school with me to share with some of my friends. The girls really liked the Fiji scent, and the boys loved Bear Glove and Swagger, and I taught them how to scent responsibly. I then brought it over to my friend Dave’s house where I showed him how to use it and he really loved it.

My friend Evan and I both tried out the hair sculpting paste and it worked great.

Arriving in stores this month, new Old Spice Re-fresh Body Sprays contain a P&G proprietary Re-fresh Technology that features a patented cyclic molecule with an empty core that absorbs some fragrance as the Body Spray dries on the skin. As a guy sweats, fragrance is pushed out of the core releasing bursts of scent when a guy needs it the most. With new Old Spice Re-fresh Body Sprays, “One Spray Lasts All Day,” which means no more annoying spray clouds.

  1. Great review, your son did a good job. I haven’t heard of these new products by Old Spice but my husband loves Old Spice deodorant especially. He is guilty of over spraying body spray though. I’ll be sure to share these tips with him to get him to use it correctly!

  2. I learned that Old Spice has a lot more products that I ever realized.  I certainly never knew they had bar soap. I’m definitely going to get some for my son.  Thank you.

  3. Very well written review! I even was able to get my hubby to read it. We both learned a lot: Old spice has 12 different scents, and they have HAIR products! He’s guilty for over spraying, and spraying too close as indicated in the blog post.. this product would be awesome to try 🙂

  4. I learned that you can find whatever product you want. The website will tell you if it’s available near you or any online retailers that have it too! How awesome!
