So, castor oil is an oil that comes from a bean called the castor bean. It’s a vegetable oil with a very pale yellow color. And, it is well known for improving hair health. Now, if you’re wondering about castor oil and hair health, not everything you hear is true.
Can castor oil grow hair?
There is no scientific evidence that I’ve seen that indicates that this oil can make your hair grow faster or thicker. However, there are many people that swear by this. So, like any other non-traditional remedy, you will need to make your own decision.
Can castor oil cause your hair to fall out?
Any oil you apply to your scalp can clog your pores. And, if you don’t remove that oil regularly, this may lead to unhealthy hair. Be sure that you wash your hair regularly to remove any excess oil. And, massage your scalp to encourage healthy hair.
How do you apply castor oil to hair?
Begin with washing your hair. And, as your hair is still damp, work a small amount of the oil into your scalp with your fingers. Run your fingers through your hair to distribute a small amount of the oil into your hair. Then, cover your hair with a towel and then a shower cap and wait 30 minutes to an hour.
How much castor oil should you use for hair?
You only need a small amount of oil. Because it is very thick, you can dilute it with another type of oil like argan oil. You can follow this method once or twice a week depending on your hair healthy.

I’m not going to lie to you, it doesn’t smell great. If you want to use castor oil for hair growth, you might want to add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to it. Lavender, peppermint, and rosemary are all good choices for your hair. Here are a few more essential oils you can try.
