I love the Asian look in jewelry and accessories. I love the exotic, delicate feel to it. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been fascinated with geisha girls and anything else Asian I could read about or get my hands on. There’s just something so feminine about the style that appeals to me.
As I got older, I started to be interested in Japanese crafts and was of course drawn to origami and other paper folding techniques. I just love the beautiful papers available. You’ve probably heard of origami before but you may not be familiar with chiyogami. Chiyogami is a type of Japanese paper that is often embellished with gold and consists of repeated patterns of things like flowers, plants, butterflies, birds or geometric patterns. The patterns and designs are just exquisite.
I recently came across an etsy shop, Gamiworks, where the owner specializes in beautiful gifts and accessories made from Chiyogami papers. She uses simple and feminine lines to highlight the endless array of colors and graphic patterns of these brilliant age-old papers. You can find jewelry like pendants and chokers as well as accessories like pocket mirrors, belt buckles, lighter covers and magnets.
I was recently given the opportunity to review one of the beautiful pocket mirrors from Gamiworks. Each mirror has the Chiyogami design on the back and a mirror on the front. They are 2″ in diameter and come in a little bag for storage. This is the perfect size for me to toss in my handbag or cosmetic bag for those on the go touch ups! The workmanship is really spectactular and this is definitely a fashion statement as well as a functional pocket mirror.
One of my lucky readers is going to win a mystery prize from Gamiworks! Here’s what you can do for a chance to win:
