4 Natural Make Up Removers
Using natural makeup removers is not only better for your skin, it helps keep your beauty budget under control. I love trying new products but I limit the amount of money I spend each month on beauty products.
It’s very important to remove your cosmetics each night before bed. Leaving your makeup on your face will result in clogged pores, blackheads, and acne.
While using cold cream is popular to remove makeup, I find that it bothers my skin. I like the convenience of makeup removing wipes, but I don’t like the waste or the expense.
Using these natural make up removers is gentler on my skin and it’s better for my budget.
How to remove makeup naturally
Here are a few alternatives for traditional makeup removers.
Natural oils
I know it seems like an odd choice, but natural oils will remove your cosmetics and moisturize your skin at the same time. One of the best natural make up removers that I have found is olive oil.
Just dab a bit of olive oil on a cotton ball, rub it in a little and then rinse it off. No need to waste your money on extra virgin olive oil, standard grade olive oil works fine for this.
Another healthy choice for removing makeup is coconut oil. Just warm it between your hands to liquefy it and smooth it over your skin.
Milk and almond oil
Milk has been used to soften and nourish your skin for years. Years ago, milk baths were a popular way to pamper yourself for royalty and for good reason. The fats and proteins in whole milk will help your skin stay soft and smooth.
Add a teaspoon of almond oil to about a cup of whole milk and rub it into your skin. This will remove your makeup and leave your skin soft.
Mashed cucumber
Cucumber is very high in water content and is also soothing for your skin. Grate the cucumber (peel it first) and mash into a paste. Then apply it to your skin and massage gently.
Rinse it off and the makeup will come off with it. If you’re using waterproof makeup, you may want to add a tiny bit of olive oil.
Plain yogurt –
Yogurt is very soothing for your skin so if you have sensitive skin at all, this is the option I would recommend. Please choose plain not sweetened yogurt. Apply to your face with a soft cloth and then rinse off. Yogurt will also help soothe sunburn and rashes.
These natural make up removers work just as well as the harsh chemicals you find at the store. Even better, they cost much less and are better for your skin and the environment. Waterproof or oil-based makeup may need an extra swipe of olive oil to remove it completely but these solutions will work for you.

Olive oil is great as a makeup remover! I tend to use it after wearing my contacts for a long time, because my normal makeup remover can be a bit irritating. It’s also great if you’re somewhere and forgot your makeup remover, or need some in a pinch.
That is very true!
I have tried coconut oil since I love the scent. I have lots of olive oil so I should try that too. I will have to try the cucs since often I get so many when they go on sale.
They do work well, Deb!
These are all great tips. I had no idea! I always have olive oil so I am going to try this.Thank you!
