Eco-friendly Accessories from Pelcor

It’s no secret that I love to shop for new accessories.  Being able to choose from a variety of handbags, belts or jewelry when I put together my look for the day is important to me. I always get excited when I see eco-friendly accessories because it makes me feel better about spending my shopping dollars. I like knowing that I support companies who make good choices for our environment.

While I’ve seen a number of eco-friendly accessories, I recently learned about a company that makes eco-friendly accessories from cork. Pelcor is a Portuguese fashion label that creates cork fashion and cork gifts items.  About my only exposure to cork at this point is cork boards and cork bottle stoppers so I was more than curious to take a look at the Pelcor Eduarda Clutch made from cork fabric.

The Eduardo Clutch is part of Pelcor’s Gold Capsule line of product.  The cork fabric of the clutch has the look of crocodile skin with a golden shimmer.  There is a golden “C” emblem on the front of the clutch and  gold colored, leather wrist strap and gold hardware. The bag zips at the top and when open reveals a golden brown material with an inside pocket. The bag measures 21cm x 14cm which is approximately 7.5″ x 5.5″ in size and is the perfect size to hold your necessities.

I am not sure what I expected cork to feel like, but, if I hadn’t known this clutch was made from cork cloth, I would have been certain it was leather.  The clutch is very soft to the touch and extremely well made.  I can see wearing this clutch with a pair of jeans and boots as you head out for a latte with the girls.  However, it’s definitely dressy enough to wear with a nice dress for a night out. This is definitely a one-of-a-kind fashion accessory.

Pelcor offers a variety of eco-friendly accessories including handbags ranging from folder to clutch size. They also offer belts, bracelets, coin purses, pouches, laptop sleeves and a number of other items.
