Geoffrey Rodriguez for Kevyn Aucoin uses Bold Colors in Unexpected Places

Last Updated on April 2, 2021 by Ellen Christian

I tend to be a total neutral girl. I’m not one of those women who you’re going to find wearing neon pink lipstick or turquoise eye shadow with rhinestones. It’s not that I don’t think those colors can be attractive, I just don’t see them as attractive on me.

Kevyn Aucoin Beauty

Lead Makeup Artist, Geoffrey Rodriguez for Kevyn Aucoin Beauty created the look for designer Gregory Parkinson’s S/S 2013 Collection at New York Fashion Week. Inspired by Gregory Parkinson’s exuberant love of fabric and color, Makeup Artist, Geoffrey Rodriguez says “his S/S 2013 make-up look is all about the mixture of textures and Boldly Colored Cheeks! The past few seasons have been focused on deep bright colors on the lips or eyes, so this season, I wanted to bring bold emphasis and color to a new and unexpected place- The Cheeks!

As for the lips, we are referring to them as ‘The Absence of Color’.” Just like make-up, Gregory Parkinson’s designs have intricately detailed color combinations and textures, so the creative synergy between the clothes and make-up are very organic. “Each dress could be its own make-up palette,” says Rodriguez.

When I saw this look, I was intrigued because the model has pale skin, light hair and blue eyes which is similar to my coloring.   I received a few Kevyn Aucoin products to play with and see if I could work these colors into my routine.

Unique roller ball applicator is convenient and fuss free. Offered in Citrine (gold), Rose Quartz (warm pinky gold), Amethyst (bright purple), Jade (vibrant green), Topaz (warm bronze), and Lapis (bluish plum)

You can see the look I achieved using the shades and products above. I used The Eye Shadow Single hint of peach right below my brown line and The Loose Shimmer Shadow (citrine) over a salmon color base. The Elegant Lip Gloss (cloudaine) gave me the perfect gloss with just a hint of color.  It took me a bit to get used to using the roller for The Loose Shimmer Shadow but ultimately I found it easiest to dab on lightly with a brush.

I am definitely loving the look that the Kevyn Aucoin products created.   The Loose Shimmer Shadow is so much fun to play with! The cases are very high quality and include a mirror when you open them.  The Eye Shadow Single comes in a little velvety pouch. What do you think?

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog.
